Sustainability

We work to reduce unnecessary energy use across the hotel, from guest bedrooms and public areas to our kitchen, bar and back-of-house spaces. This includes efficient lighting, responsible heating and cooling, and regular maintenance of equipment.

We aim to use water carefully and responsibly. Our approach includes low-flow fittings where possible, prompt repair of leaks, and encouraging guests to reuse towels and linen during longer stays.

We are committed to reducing waste and improving recycling across the hotel. We recycle materials such as glass, cardboard, paper, plastics and aluminium where facilities allow, and continually look for ways to reduce what we send to landfill.

We are working to remove unnecessary single-use plastics from our hotel. This includes using refillable amenities where practical, reducing disposable items, and choosing more sustainable packaging alternatives including our onsite filtered water prepared and served in our recyclable glass bottles.

Towels and linens are refreshed only when needed during longer stays, helping reduce unnecessary water and chemical use. Recycling is separated within guest rooms, and we continue to reduce excess packaging and single-use materials across the property.

Still and sparkling water served throughout the hotel and at Bennie’s is filtered onsite using local Scottish water and bottled in reusable glass bottles. Refillable bathroom amenities are also used throughout the hotel to help minimise plastic waste.

Being closely connected to St Andrews also shapes how we think about sourcing and partnerships.

Where possible, we work with local suppliers, producers, and businesses that share a similar approach — favouring quality, longevity, and thoughtful production over excess.

Most of our team are local to the area too, and that local knowledge plays an important role in how guests experience both the hotel and the town around it.

Sustainability is something we continue to work on as the hotel evolves.

Some changes are small and practical, others longer term, but our aim is simple: to create a place that feels well considered today, while having a lighter impact over time.

If you’d like to know more about the steps we’re taking across the hotel, our team will always be happy to help.
